Streetopia is an internet platform for low-budget self-organized non-formal exchange of artists working in public spaces.

What?

Following the idea that any empty room, couch or inflatable mattress can be an artistic residency center we are connecting artists from across the world to host each other, eat and talk, live and create together!

.

.

This platform has been developed by artists for artists and is open to ALL performers, musicians, visual artists, artivists, creative individuals, groups and organizations working in the public space to help us travel, work together and bring our work to a wider audience.

Below are a few statements that express the spirit of the project:

.

THE 7 (+1) “COMMANDMENTS” OF STREETOPIA:

1. Create art in public spaces now!

2. Work with what you’ve got!

3. Work together and help each other!

4. Question rules and authorities!

5. Don’t forget about the common man!

6. Don’t bother with the bureaucracy!

7. Document and share examples of your work!

(+1) Don’t take yourself too seriously!

Why is Streetopia a part of Facebook?

.

Streetopia is basically a social network. Facebook is a social network. You’ve read the second commandment of Streetopia? Well, we are working with what is already here.

Because it’s integrated into Facebook it should be pretty simple to use, especially informally while staying in touch with friends or even growing virtual vegetables (if you happen to like that sort of thing).

.

You REALLY don’t want to use Facebook? DON’T WORRY …

You can still sign in to get updates on some of the activities here.
